About the December Winter Conference

Delight in the fear of the Lord (Isaiah 11:3)

The theme for the 2001 Winter Conference is Delight in the Fear of the Lord (Isaiah 11:3).

Today, we live in a fast changing society. All aspects of technologies are moving forward in an incredible rate. Along with the technological advances, the moral standard and the living styles reflecting such standard are also changing. However, our society as a whole, are not "advancing" in our moral standard and our living styles. On the contrary, we, even as Christians are losing ground in our moral standard. We know we do not suppose to conform to the world, however, sometimes we ourselves can't even tell right from wrong, not to mention even if we do know, we often still choose to conform to the world. What's wrong with the picture?

Mr. Tozer gave us a clue: "When men no longer fear God, they transgress His laws without hesitation. The fear of consequences is no deterrent when the fear of God is gone", Knowledge of the Holy, pg 71. Fearing God is one of the central themes that run through out the Bible. The saints of the Bible have all demonstrated this attitude toward the awesome and transcendent God. Through this theme we can rediscover the meaning of fearing our God and how we can delight in the fear of the Lord as Jesus did.
