Return With A Heart To Know God
Jeremiah 24:7

I will give them a heart to know Me, for I am the Lord;
and they will be My people, and I will be their God,
for they will return to Me with their whole heart.

The theme for this year, “Return with a Heart to Know God”—Jeremiah 24:7, begins the focus WCCCC has chosen for the upcoming few years, “Revive Us, O Lord” – Psalm 19:7, which is intended to bring about revival among WCCCC conferees by God’s word.

Revival is a familiar topic among Christians today and yet it is seldom realized. It may be that the expectations Christians have or the ideas Christians pursue for revival just isn’t what God has in mind. Christians need to be reminded that seeking God is a humbling process. Revival can’t happen without people turning from their sins, themselves, and even their ideals to embrace God. The the guarantee of revival is not from us, instead the only guarantee of revival still lies only in God’s grace and ability to change us.

Most Christians find it difficult to believe a message that God’s grace can change their lives let alone bring about revival among God’s people. That’s just too supernatural for most; they would rather hear what God has done in the past or what God wants them to do now. Many Christians are afraid God will disappoint them. But God’s promises, in which we sometimes secretly fear disappointment, will not disappoint us because they guarantee one thing we can’t guarantee for ourselves: the fulfillment of God’s desire for our lives.

We need to look to God and His promises first on revival before we set out seeking revival. At the heart of the matter we need to realize that revivals come from only God Himself. Those who have been revived by God will return to Him with their whole heart, live as His people, and have the heart to seek Him out in His word.
