2003 Winter Conference

Conference Theme

Walk in the Light of the Lord
Isaiah 2:5

“Come, O house of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the LORD.”

The theme for the WCCCC conference of 2003-- “walk in the light of the Lord,” is the next logical step after we have “returned with a heart to know God” from the conference of 2002. That is, after we know who Christ is, we must become more like him. With knowledge comes responsibility. The scriptures say, “This is how we know we are in Him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.” (1 John 2:5-6)

The message of the Gospel was not given just to keep us busy on Sunday mornings. God gave us His inspired Word and His Spirit to illumine our minds and transform our lives. The Bible is authoritative in everything that it addresses, and this includes our thoughts, words, and deeds, it includes our lives at church, at home, at work, and at play, it includes every relationship we could possibly have—with spouses, parents, children, siblings, family, friends, neighbors, bosses, co-workers, etc. God desires to be the Lord of our lives in every possible sphere that exists. Our prayer at WCCCC is that Christ would indeed reign as Lord over all in the lives of His people such that our risen Savior will be glorified in all that you do.

The imperative to “walk in the light of the Lord” is a challenge to everyone.

First, it is a call for us to stop stumbling in the darkness and to step into the light: “to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive the forgiveness of sins…” (Acts 26:18)

Constantly, it is an appeal to find out what pleases God and rejoice in our new life through Him: “for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the LORD; walk as children of Light (for the fruit of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth), trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord.” (Eph. 5:8-10)

Ultimately, it is a challenge to continue walking in the light, for great is our reward: “Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised.” (Heb. 10:35-36)

May WCCCC meet you where you are in your walk and challenge you to take the next steps forward.
